Yoga on Retreat

It’s kind of a bummer to be on a yoga retreat and not be able to do any yoga.
I’ve had a lingering hip issue that I thought would be better by now. But, alas, I went on a lovely yoga retreat with Sarah Fischer and hardly did any asana (postures).
I was sad. My body misses moving in that way. It was hard for me to not push past the pain (because that is what I did for so long!).
But the weekend wasn’t just about postures. Just like yoga isn’t just about the postures.
I got to eat delicious, healthy food that I didn’t have to make (my favorite!). I spent a lot of time outside. There was chanting and yoga nidra. I got to connect with others in meaningful ways.
True yoga is a “union” of seeming opposites. There was disappointment around the loss of what I couldn’t do - AND - I got so much out of the retreat and am feeling fulfilled and very grateful!
That’s true yoga.
