What's in the Way IS the Way

One of my favorite book titles is, “What’s in the Way Is the Way.” I often find myself caught in the trap of wishing things were different…and waiting for the happiness that I imagine is just around the corner if only… (fill in the blank).
My whole life I wanted to be a mother. And now too often I find myself complaining that my kids are, “in the way.” In the way of me being able to teach more classes, practicing more yoga, or traveling to India to study with the masters. But what if motherhood IS the way for me? What if what I need to be doing right now is making dinner for my family and bringing my girls back and forth to dance classes? Not as glamorous, but maybe it’s just what my soul asked for.
My two teenage daughters need me right now. It won’t always be like this, but for now, this is the Way for me. And want to know how I know? Because it’s what IS. No more fighting life and wishing it were different. I choose to show up to each precious moment with awareness and heart-full gratitude.
I have enjoyed teaching Kundalini Yoga at Yoga Source for the last 4 years. I’ve been practicing at Yoga Source since its inception over 20 years ago, and since my first hatha teacher training in 2003. And I will always feel connected to my Yoga Source family even though I will no longer be able to teach class on Thursday evenings (last class will be 9/12/19). It has truly been a privilege and honor to practice with you all and I am grateful to each person who has shared their light with me. Sat Naam!
