The “Freeze” Stress Response
Holly Henty | MAY 14, 2024

Not that kind of “freeze”! We’re talking about the “freeze” response to fear.
*Do you have difficulty making or acting on decisions? (procrastination, anyone?!?!)
*Do you go on “autopilot” after prolonged periods of stress?
*Do you withdraw and attempt to self-soothe with things like TV, social media, or gaming? (But then berate yourself for being “lazy?)
*Do you experience “stage fright” or does your mind go blank?
*Do you feel “stuck”?
These could be your nervous system responding to fear and stress by “freezing” - aka you’re being attacked by a wild animal so all your muscles go rigid, you stop moving, and hope the wild animal doesn’t see you.
There’s ways to help your nervous system regulate so we’re not stuck in fight/flight/freeze/fawn/flop responses. Kundalini Yoga Kriyas are one great way that works well for me and hundreds of people I’ve worked with over the years.
This Wednesday in class we’ll be getting to know the “freeze” stress response and working to balance our nervous systems. Join us!
