I’m going to call BS on some self-love myths out there:

“If you want to be loved, you’ve got to love yourself first”

“You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be with someone else”

These beliefs cause pain. And they’re not true.

Humans are relationally dependent. That means we need each other.

Love and belonging are basic human needs

A lot of us, over time, have learned to be hard on ourselves and it can feel like we don’t love ourselves (we can leave the “why’s” to another conversation)

So it’s a process to re-learn to love ourselves

And we re-learn to love ourselves WHILE IN REALTIONSHIP WITH OTHERS. None of us is an island.

Love from others can help us love ourselves more

So it’s not true that you need to isolate and love yourself FIRST…as if it’s something that can be checked off a list as “done”

Let self-love grow through your relationships

And each day, let self-love grow as you learn more about yourself

You’re worth it!
