Self-Care…it’s not what you think!

Who has the time and money for self-care?!?!

Not necessary! What if self-care was the way we ARE with ourselves, instead of the things we DO for ourselves?

For example, going to a yoga class isn’t an act of self-care if it’s fueled by obligation and guilt…and full of negative self-talk, lack, and not-good-enough shame. But if we go to yoga class as a way to get to know ourselves better and love ourselves through the ups and downs on our mats, then it absolutely IS self-caring.

What if we stopped thinking of self-care through the eyes of consumerism and assuming it means expensive spa days or vacations?

The greatest acts of self-care come from the way we ARE with ourselves as we move throughout our day. Are you moving through your day with kindness, patience, and grace for yourself and others?

Can you turn DOWN the volume of criticism and judgment, while turning UP the volume of compassion and love?

No matter what you’re “doing” right now, how are you caring for yourself in this moment?

For me, it’s being gentle with myself for not getting this post done this morning like I had planned.
