Discipline Without Reward or Punishment?

Important question: how to have “discipline” without reward and punishment?
The belief of behavior leading to either reward or punishment is SO pervasive…we might not even be aware of it as a belief.
For example - if you’re looking to have a regular yoga practice, it usually takes a certain amount of “discipline” to get consistent. Are you expecting a “reward” (typically in the form of a specific positive outcome) for your practice? Or are you expecting a “punishment” (specific negative outcome) if you don’t?
In my experience, if we do something expecting a reward, or trying to avoid a punishment…that is ultimately not sustainable.
What if your yoga practice was motivated by curiosity? Or seen as an opportunity to get to know yourself better? How would that change your practice?
Viewing life through a lens of reward and punishment is learned. So the good news is that if we learned it, we can UNLEARN it too.
Let’s unlearn together
