How can it be so common to hear of spiritual teachers that help people get in touch with their true nature…and then later we find out they were abusing their power and caused immense harm?
We feel betrayed and it makes it hard to trust 💔
One answer may come from the lens of the 4 dimensions of human development and transformation:
1️⃣ Growing Up - development of our capacity and perspective
2️⃣ Waking Up - shifts in consciousness and awareness
3️⃣ Cleaning Up - shadow integration and psychological healing
4️⃣ Showing Up - embodiment and expression of our development in relationships, work and society
These 4 dimensions are relatively independent…meaning we can be highly developed along one dimension, and not another
So a spiritual teacher may recognize a deep dimension of awareness (2️⃣), but have not done much shadow work (3️⃣), and therefore aren’t able to bring insights into their relationships (4️⃣)…and end up causing harm
These 4 dimensions within the Integral Theory framework can help us better understand ourselves and others
For example, I’m stronger in 3️⃣ and 4️⃣, and less strong in 1️⃣ and 2️⃣
It’s not bad or good…it can just help us recognize our relative strengths and areas of growth potential
And when we understand ourselves and others better, judgement lessens and compassion increases naturally ❤️
In coaching, I do lots of 3️⃣ and 4️⃣ with folks…it really works and I love it!
We’ll be exploring this framework in both Kundalini Yoga classes this week:
✅ Wednesday 9:15 am at The Innerwork Center
✅ Sunday 9:30 am at Chimborazo Park
